Default Real seawater from the sea

I live in Jamaica as I've stated a zillion times before I get my water from the ocean. A really clean spot where there is reef and lots of fish. The water is crystal clear.

Should I be concerned about diseases and stuff like that? Cause when I do water changes this way everything seems to love it. I change the water out and all the corals seem to open out. (Corals are in my friends tank not my cycling tank)

Currently cycling (I think )

There are a few people here that have used NSW. The risk is that most of us on the mainland run into is that the coastal water are still poluted. You also have to worry about salinity changes from rainfall and rivers close to shore. There are still people who boat far off shore to try to gather clean water. You have weight out what's better cost wise because gas and time isn't free.

The advantage you have over any of use is the reef is right out there. If the water is support a local healthy reef that is not over grown with algae then it should be okay to use.

If your worried about parasites you could buy a UV filter and treated the water before use. In that case you would have to weigh out the pros and cons. The UV would kill the parasites that you are worried about but would also kill all of that plankton in the NSW that the corals are going crazy for.

Definetly dont get water close to shore because you will trully get crap of water. Unless you dive and collect your water directly from the reefs, I wouldn't trust it with all the pollution that is affecting our oceans, you might just nuke your tank or introduce something you wouldn't want to. Also, trace chemicals might be present in higher levels, so be careful when dosing.

Nice! Ahhh, water must be gleaming down there. I retract my comment. I thought you lived off of Santa Monica. Ahahah! I guess only Southern California people will laugh at that.

Hey mon everything is airy(no problems). You are so fortunate to be able to perform water changes without having to buy synthetic salt and a ro filter and mix salt.
As COVEY stated jus be cautious of Plankton/bacteria! Uv sterilizer will address that issue...
