Default Powerheads bubble?

Ive seen some powerheads that have an airline attached to them. I currently have one as well. my question is, if i leave it above the water(airline) i get bubbles coming out. Air being sucked in and shot out with the water. kinda cool effect. But my question is is this good or bad ? what do most reefers do?

I dont have a skimmer yet. So would it be better or worse or no matter for me to use the powerhead to put air in the water? I thought it looked kinda cool but dont have it doing it now. any ideas?

If you leave the bubbles on, be prepared for all sorts of salt creep. You want circulation - you don't want the bubbles. Remove the airline.

Unless you want air bubbles for "decorative" purposes they have no business in the water column. People in this hobby try all sorts of things to eliminate them when they do occur. If enough air bubbles are consumed by your fish then these fish will eventually drown. Ever seen a fish chase and bite an air bubble thinking it's food?

Any oxygen the tank water would need is already contained in that molecule we call "H2O". So by doing water changes every so often as well as using skimmers we replenish the oxygen that has been depleted.

I would tend to agree with glampka and mattgeezer in saying that the less air bubbles the better. This is JMHO.

Cheers.
