| Please Identify This: Picked up a 4lb piece of live rock yesterday,on it is this orange stuff.I thought it was dead but it may not be.
It was the way it looks in this picture when i bought it but this morning it had a white slime coat over it.
it is hard to the touch.i also brushed off the slim coat.was that a good or bad thing to do.
I forget the type of live rock it is but it began with a
"I" if this helps.
Any Idea?
cant find any pictures on the web of it.
The Orange Area is a little bigger than a Half Dollar

| Re: Please Identify This: I would say it is a sponge But I couldn't tell you What sponge it is.
Some sponges will die after being exposed to air. John |

| Re: Please Identify This: Keep your eye on it and hit it with an easy blast of water from a baster every now and then. If it stays alive you're in business. If it doesn't... Use a net and throw it out. Hopefully it will stay alive.

| Re: Please Identify This: That is because the area it lived in previously had lower light, hence the lack of photosynthetic life and blaech white apperance of the area around the sponge.... Will die quickly if face up especially if you have halides. _________ Yes, tiny has an 11" legspan...... |
