off to fiji

Hey Guys
Im off to fiji in 5 days and wanted to know if you have any tips for keeping the tank going while im gone. Ill be there for two weeks. I have no fish to worry about just coral. I have instructed my brother on how to add fresh water from a 5 gallon bucket of ro/di water for evaporation...
The lights are on timers, skimmer is running (could the skimmer be turned off or left running???)

Sounds like you've got a good plan so far. I wouldn't shut the skimmer off though. Can you show your brother how to empty the cup if need be?

 

ya i can show him how to do that, i was wondering more about the scum that collects in the neck, or would it be ok and hold till i get back to clean that out?

 

Should be fine until you get back. If you had fish in the tank, I'd be more concerned about the skimmer but since you don't, no worries

You will be fine!!! I went for three weeks on vacation with my friend just doing the basics(feeding and water top off)!
Skimmer was fine as it was dirty and I cleaned it upon returning, but no problems and I have a large bioload of corals, fish and inverts!
