| need some help with this... first of all ... thanx to all of you for your great advice on the questions i have posted so far. you guys have been real helpful.. o.k. so here it goes. i posted earlier about my live rock wich has always been problematic. always having a thin coat of green algae on it. originally i cured in tank which i know now is a nono. oh well you live and you learn. so i decided to remove it and scrub. then i read a thread that involved bleaching. i thaught o.k. great ill start with completly clean rock, and while i was at it i also thaught ... good time to add a DSB. (how my doin so far)so i removed what little livestock i have , put them in the quarentine and started to remove the lr. the water got completly green and brown and i mean nasty... so i ask ... whats my next step? hope i dont sound like an idiot here... lol... _________ 90 Gallon AGA , Coralife MH,PC, Proclear Wet Dry, Seio 600 , 2x aquclear 50,180 pounds LR , Running Carbon, Korallin Calcium Reactor (not currently in use) DIY denitrator ,1 Coral Banded, 1 Domino Damsel ,1 Blue damsel , 1 Keyhole Angel , 4 Large Scarlet Hermit Crabs. | if you got a skimmer, start by wet skimming and since the fish aren't in the tank do like a 50% water change, trying to get must of the substrate upper layer and change some of your filter media if not all! |

so bring the water level back up so everything flows.. wet skim then a 50% or drain till half full then bring level up and wet skim? then ill have to remove water to add the DSB and live rock when ready correct? |

yes i know it will.. it does piss me off because it seemed to be going well enough with the exception of this rock with the algae. it just makes sense to me if the rock is the one thing i keep cutting corners with and i keep having trouble with the rock then something aint workin for me and i need to try a better aproach. start clean have less issues kinda sorta.. plus it makes sense to me that if i dont fix the problem and just treat the symptoms ill eventually run into a bigger problem but with more livestock to contend with.. what you think? i dunno? just seems kinda like the right thing to do.. as far as a new cycle . i really love reef and i have recently discovered new patience and want to make this the best i possibly can... or maybe its my OCD actin up again? LOL!!! |

| hey guys, just a little update here and a thanx to those who helped me out last night.. did my 50% water change as per advice from r34dawn. fish are resting comfortably in the quarentine. skimming wet and water is clearing. cleaning all prefilter and drip tray pads like every few hours. rock is resting comfortable in the tub with bleach. im skimming wet and pulling out crap. i have my powerheads down low to stir up the substrate surface a bit. next step after it clears is to add the DSB and just wait for that problematic rock to be done.. third times the charm as they say. PEACE ALL!!! |

| How many PH do you have in the tank? Maybe not enough flow in the tank? Make sure you have no dead spots where no circulation is |
