Default need a new filter

I hate my aquaclear filter. the noise from the water entering my tank is so loud it's driving me nuts. It's louder then the fan! Anyone have good suggestions on a filter that is quiet but won't giv me problems.

Why not just get a HOB refugium and slove more issues with the tank ? Or consider setting up a sump and a fuge ?

With the money your going to spend on a HOB filter you can build a DIY fuge and PVC overflow.

Well can I run my carbon, nitrate sponge or phosphate sponges in a fuge? Can I convert the filter into a fuge and how? I can't do a sump, I'd love to but I just don't have the room. I have also run out of plugs to plug things in. So what can I do to make the filter into a fuge.

Reef Aquarium Filtration: AquaFuge External Hang-On Refugium
This is the refugium that I have!!! No skimmer, all you need is a pump to bring water into the unit...then it is gravity fed back!

If by pump you mean a small power head type I'd make myself an air lift tube and do away with a power pump. The air lift would offer more benefits
