Oh, cool! lol

Yeah, I want more light but I think I will move to lps instead of sps. I am really beginning to like them more. Is there a bigger pump in the DX vs my model? Did you modify the outlet? Mine doesn't have that piece of loc-line.

Mike

Sorry, I guess you'll have to look that info up on their site. I asked my husband and he doesn't know what size pump is in there. In fact he doesn't remember who he ordered it from. We didn't modify anything we just plugged it in. I don't know what loc-line is. I think he paid $149 for it.

Thanx! FYI, loc-line is that flexible modular piping that people put in aquariums, I see that there is some in your nano-cube with a flare nozzle.

Hello everybody, let me tell you those are nice pics and nice looking corals, i just set the 12 gal DX, almost 2 weeks, getting some algae on rocks and glass, how long has it been since you set up your cubes . i really need some advice, i want to know when can i start adding supplements, water test was as follows ammonia .25 ,nitrate 5 and Ph 8, is the cycle over?. is my lr cure? i read somewhere that my lr probably wasn't cure according to my readings for been a 1 week tank.
At this point there is a clean up crew and i've seen some other live activity in rock as well in sand " good sign" right?. Please give me some advise on my new cube ..thank's

Mike,

What size is your cube. My daughter is interested in a small tank (though I would be the one taking care of it) and I was thinking of a nano cube for her.

How hard is it to keep such a small ecosystem? It seems that like anything over the edge and BAMM your in for a supprise. Is a nano cube really suitable for reef care?

Cheers,
Ray

My Nano Cube
1/2 gallon
7 watt power compact = 14 watts pergallon 7200k temp

i took picture with no flash in dark room and turned the exposure of the camera down to -1.2.
has been running for 3 weeks.
i got the 4 small polyps from my brother, when i got them they were milky white pale and just floating detached in his tank.I superglued them to small LR.
Now they are darker almost purple with orange ring on disk.the picture does no show this. Also 1 hermit crab,2 kinds of caulapera and various little critters call this home.there is one more photo in my photo gallery.a closeup

They water is a little yellow/green because i cleaned the plastic/glass for the picture.normally the water is crystal clear and very white.that little 7 watt pc is blindingly brite.
algae growth has nearly come to a stand still just have not cleaned it in over a week.

It has been less than a week. *What type of water did you use? *What kind of algae are you getting?
i want to know when can i start adding supplements, water test was as follows ammonia .25 ,nitrate 5 and Ph 8, is the cycle over?.
*Well, depending on how quickly your aquarium is using up things like calcium, will depend on how quickly but I would say that you can add things like A & B almost immediately. No your cycle is not over! Your ammonia might be decreasing but I am sure your nitrite is going up, then that will decrease and your nitrate will increase. Now your nitrates are a little high. I am almost positive seeing that, that you used tap water.
is my lr cure?
Not sure. *Did you buy cured lr? *Curing live rock is basically letting rock sit in a vat with a skimmer to remove all of the crap.
A clean-up crew isn't pods like you may be seeing, a good clean-up crew would include snails, crabs, shrimps....so on.

Ray...my cube is original 12g nano cube. *Actually I believe it is fairly simple, now of course, salinity and temp fluctuates much more quickly but there are ways to fix that. *In a nanocube, it is almost sealed so you shouldn't have a whole lot of evaporation. *So salinity should stay pretty stable.

John...I had one of those. *They are pretty cool, just wish that the bulb could be changed to a 50/50.
