Default Moving...can they survive 3-4 days?

I will be moving and driving a 3-4 day trip. I am selling my fish but I was wondering if I can put my live rock which has alot of coral attached to it and place them in large insulated boxes with heat packs and fill it with water. I know I can change the heat packs out every day but without a powerhead are my coral doomed?
Any coral I can get off the rock I am putting them in small individual bags as if I was shipping them to someone but I am concerned about my rock with the attached coral.

Is this possible? Anyone tried it?

Also, until I can get the large tank cycled again, can I put all the coral in a 10 gallon with no live rock or sand until the large tank cycles? I know it shouldnt be a long cycle since the rock will be submerged and heated, but the sand wont, it will just have a layer of water over it.

Is there any way you could put them into boxes and power up a PH using the cig lighter? An adaptor of sorts? This is an interesting one. I know they would live no problem in a 10g tank with nothing more than a small PH and a heater. I have done that. But a trip like this.....great question. Any coral I can get off the rock I am putting them in small individual bags as if I was shipping them to someone but I am concerned about my rock with the attached coral.

You can do that. No skimmer needed. Just a heater and a powerhead. And lighting. They have to have proper lighting for that long. Five days I wouldn't worry about. But weeks on end, they would eventually shed their zooxanthellae and that would spell the end of them. I had that happen to some Xenia I forgot about. Two months in the dark turned them albino. They are actually dying as I type. Nothing I can do.

Hope this helps. Good luck. I will be watching this thread also.

Im also wondering what would be better for the sand. Keep it in the tank with a little water hovering over it, or take the sand out of the tank and put it into its own heated container.
Im thinking that if I touch the sand its going to take the cycle longer once I get to my destination.

get a power inverter AIMS 300 Watt PURE Sine Wave Power Inverter 12 Volt includes cables like that. you can plug a lot of stuff into it. you can go directly to the battery or do the cigarette lighter plug. Do all new live sand.

sand...I would toss it and get new. Just my opinion. I got all new sand when I transferred over my tank just to be safe. On a long trip like that I would think that it would be a breeding ground for bad things

can you fill the tank half way in the truck and keep the coral in there with a heater and ph if you get the power inverter? Just a thought.... Good luck with the move.
