Default Moving !!!!

Just across the hall though. But still, I have a well established 55 gal now. I really dont want to have to go throught too much stress over this I have finals coming up. I am going to set up a new tank, and cycle it for a month. I get the first month free so I am paying an extra month at my old place for this purpose. If I get a 75 gal all my equipment will transfer perfectly. So What should I do??

Get good live sand.
Get how many lbs of new lr? I have 80lbs now.
The lr rock will be out of the water for less then 1 minute when I do the transfer, die off?
I will be adding small amounts of my sand from the 55gal to the cycling 75 throughout the month.
When I transfer all my stuff to the 75 this will I have a new cycle?
It will be and running with a very small amount of lr and 80lbs live sand for a month.

My plan is to just transfer everything in one night, using all of the water in my 55 too. I would do my first water change on the 75gal and replacing it with 45gals of established water. Any help? Ideas?

Get good live sand. yep
Get how many lbs of lr? I have 80lbs now. I don't know
The lr rock will be out of the water for less then 1 minute, die off? should be fine! check though to see if there's any critters you don't want to keep on the rock. This would be a good time to either shoot them with kalk or scrub the rock if needed, but I think you'll be safe.
I will be adding small amounts of my sand from the 55gal to it throughout the moth.
If I do this will I have a new cycle in the 75? yes some sort of cycle will happen, maybe a mini cycle. When I recently added more rock it started and is finally at the end stages.
It will be and running with a very small amount of lr and 80lbs live sand for a month. should be fine

yep, buckets and more buckets oh and towels and more towels!!!

I've moved my 55 several times through out my house, during remodeling. I've always used the same water. Just make sure you don't stir up the bottom too bad, scoop it up and lay it down, don't dump. You're gonna have a cloud for a few hours till it all settles. Get as much of the water and all of the rock you can and see if you can find someone with or rent a furniture dolly to keep the 55 next to the 75 to make this transition smoother... they help A LOT! Well I am setting up the 75 to be my new reef. I was going to cycle it for a month with minimal lr and 80lbs ls. Then add 45 gals of water to it from my 55 gal alone with all 80lbs lr and all coral. There will be no protein skimmer on it just a fluval with chemipure and some powerheads and a heater for the month. I will transfer all my lighting and skimmer and another canister. I am going to try to get as much light into the tank as I can to try to ready the sand for the new light, algea bloom.

Does this sound do able???

Confused- don't most the old timers here suggest NO lights for a month to reduce algae?
Also, why the can instead of skimmer?

I think that you are wasting a month of rent that you could put back into you're tank or maybe even pay for your upgrade. You don't have to wait to cycle the new tank. I just upgraded from a 46 gal bowfront to a 100g tank and just transfered it one night. Only minimal signs of a mini cycle if any. Params always tested good. Read what Coral Reefer said about it, this is what I went by. 3reef.com - Forums for coral reef aquariums, salt water fish, corals, inverts, protein skimmers, aquarium lighting and more! - 3reef Articles - Reef Aquarium Articles and How To's - How to's for moving a tank or transferring to a bigger one!!

yep, I'd say yes to skimmer, but not until you have a load and no to the lights not until it's cycled.....good catch GeejEx!

If you are adding more sand it talks about it in the previously mentioned post by Coral Reefer. I think it suggests not using live sand (it will become seeded from what you already have) and not layer the sand. I believe he suggested to keep the same depth that you already have and put the old sand on one side and butt the new sand up to the old at the same depth. If you are adding more rock, use dead rock so you run less chance of re-cycling. I highly suggest you read that article by Coral Reefer about transferring to a larger tank.
