Default The Move that ended it all

As many of you know I moved on the week end. So I had a 75G and a 45G to move. The 75G was an SPS and clam tank and the 45G was home to a few BTAs and a breeding pair of Clowns

Well, every SPS in the tank has RTNed and not salvageable I was able to get my LPS and Clams to a friends tank.
My amazing Powder Brown died in the rubbermaid bin do to my air stone falling out of the bucket over night. All fish but 3 chromis and a mandarin were lost.
My BTAs split during the move so I'm nursing 5 instead of 3.

So the tanks are both up and running with Live rock only the 75G has a 3' sand bed (the cause of the RTN I think) and I went bare bottom on the 45G. I have 2 nice Caps left and they are still in rubbermade bins. Daily water changes and ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate test are being performed and I will begin the rebuild.

It's been a rough move. We have to put our 14 year old cat down on Thursday (My wife rescued the cat as a stray that was hit by a car), 2 Total tanks wiped out and we moved to a new strange home.
Not to mention the only 3Reef contact I've had is a sneak peak while at work. (will get the home computer up tonight)

I will eventually restock the 75G but I'm going to ensure I only put frags in the tank. No Mother colonies from LFS that is what the old tank was and there is nothing like seeing the growth from a tiny SPS frag into a fragable colony.

So I've been a little stressed and a lot sad but I feel the crash was 100% my stupidity and would encourage anyone to deal with a DSB as a time bomb waiting to go off if you move get new sand!!!

That's all for now. Got to get back to work

It would take a lot more than this to make me quit. I was planning on a huge upgrade now that I have a fish room, but to look at the positive now I have a tank to rebuild. It's kinda like an upgrade without the cost.
Despite my positive view I'm really dumbed that I made so many mistakes to take out so many living things. Poor little guys

We all make mistakes J. Moving a tank is hard enough, but moving a couple tanks and the rest of your house and family is over the top. At least sharing it here may help others with their move.

A clean slate can be a good thing. I've had ongoing problems with mine since I switched from the hex to the long. I probably will tear it down and start over to some degree at some point.

Karma for your loss.

I finally caved in and we took them home. Two days later, I'm wondering what my Coral Beauty is doing, when I notice he has no head!!!, and where is my Anthia???? what happened to my pink cucumber??? and while taking my reef apart to get these @#%$&*@s, my blue tang dies from the stress.
My kids know now, and so do I! 20/20 I'd say.
So don't be to hard on yourself, and good luck on the new house and your rebuild.

Jason sorry for your loss. I had the same problem I had sold my house to buy a new one and had to move to an apartment for three months. The move from the old house to the apartment was fine I took all my rock and fish from a 125 gallon tank to a 30 gallon tank. me and my family was in a one bedroom apt. Then from the apt to the house the closing took so long I lost everything fish rock the whole thing. I feel your pain, hang in there it sounds like you have a whole room to dedicate to the hobby now.
