| lighting $$$-$$$$$
tank $$-$$$$$$
skimmer $$-$$$$
heater 1/2$-$$
pumps $$-$$$
sump $-$$$
refugium $-$$$
testing kits 1/2$
powerheads $-$$$
chiller $$$-$$$$$
calcium reactor $$-$$$$
general guideline, as obviously the bigger the tank the more $$$$ that is correlated with the size tank.
the big expenses are going to be the additional tank components like the chiller and calcium reactor-lighting if you decide to have strong lighting, effective skimmer will set you back about $300.00 or so for a good one...
it is just an general assumption as you have to conside costs associated with electricity/ replacement bulbs etc. that occur over time on a fairly regular basis!
Kind of a hard question to answer effectively IMO, but hope this helps! _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | Heres a question, I was told that if you have a glass tank it would be extremely hard to drill glass, and cost ALOT I personally dont want to drill any type of tank other a 10$ tank lol cause knowing me something drastic will happen and some how or another I will crack the tank. ! lol |

| ^^ Unfortunately unless you get a pre-drilled tank, most places (around me at least) don't warranty or guarantee their drilling. If they crack it...oh well, sucks for you
I'm curious to why glass / acrylic matters. Seriously, because I was looking into another acrylic tank, but if a glass would be better I'd want to go with that.
About shape size, i have Biocube 14g and my g/f will soon be running a 20"x20"x16"high cube
I think the cube looks amazing and will have to get pics soon. I think my fav tanks are cubes, corners and 36g bowfronts. _________ 14g Oceanic Cube

Glass is just much more scratch resistant than acrylic. ( just think of all that sand and rock to scratch up your tank) Not to mention the algae cleaning limitations you have with acrlyic tanks. The advantage with acrylic is that it will weigh much less than a glass tank. |
