I am finally setting up my mantis shrimp tank, which will hold a peacock mantis shrimp. The setup so far:

20 gallon tank with acrylic bottom
    stand

    Still need:

    filter
    lights
    live rock/sand
    mantis shrimp

Do I need a skimmer for a mantis tank?

It will be a mantis shrimp, and maybe a few crabs (live food).

Actually you probably do want a skimmer. Mantis shrimps store food in their dens so you can't really clean up uneaten food and you really can't tell how much of the food you give them is being eaten right away.

Lights- Should be all actinic and low wattage.

stomatopods.com is probably your best source for a peacock mantis, unless your LFS carries them.
