| Interesting Question (I think) I am looking for some advice... I would call my tank "in the beginning". I like the few elements it has, but it is a disgrace compared to many I see here. I am looking for suggestions on how to go from "hey, that guy has a fish tank to "man that's a great looking reef". Do I just keep adding LR and corals until I'm out of room. If so, what kind of things do people reccomend to fill in. My tank looks empty to me. BTW it has been going about 6 months. I guess the question is: what is everyone's best tip or story for making their tank great, as opposed to something that looks unfinished (I know, a reefer is never satisfied, but you know what I mean.)

Read and research what you want in the tank. Whether it be coral or fish, hold out until you get what you want. Buy small specimens. Allow these things to grow in your tank. It will take time to get the WOW you're looking for but small and slow is the only way for the WOW to happen.
I have seen WOW tanks that are "paid for" meaning the person bought big Mother colonies and Large fish and for a week or so he had a great tank, but the system couldn't keep up and algae, Light, Chemistry all went wacko and he was left with a Browned out fussy stick Tank

| Re: Interesting Question (I think) haha! I get WOW for my clam....Peeps say "hey, what is that blue thingy in the sand"
When I tell them, they don't believe me!!!
It's like Jason says, slow and steady wins the race. Some of the really nice pieces (I like LPS myself) are really expensive (acans, blastos, micromussas, etc) so a polyp at a time is all I can afford. I don't have much in mine either, but I still love watching it and seeing it grow! I have put in about the same time as you, but am able to get frags, etc. already to trade with other local reefers. I have been able to get some neat stuff that way a little quicker too. _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!
