    Well, silly me i guess decided to make 10 gallons of saltwater one very late night last week. Actually wednesday. I had it in my spare closet and didnt go in there until tonight where I saw my saltwater still swirling from the powerheads. After adding some top off the salinity is correct but there is a certain film on the water that is very slippery and covers anything in the water.

    Would it be ok to still use this water for a water change, or is there a time limit on new water for a change?

    let me know, thanks..

    i would think if the water has been in motion then it should be good..
    still wait till someone else answers because this is just an assumption.

    although the film thing makes me think.. did something fall in it?

    maybe it be best to just do another batch all together.

    IMO it is fine

    there are many pre mixed saltwaters in the trade these days and they must spend weeks/ months in storage

    the oil scum, slick - is trapped protiens - if you turn of the power head you can then drape a paper towel gently on the water surface and the scum will attach to the towel
    and lift off as you slide the paper towel off
