Pepermint shrimp worked for me on geting the anenemies out but when I put a good anenemies in like sabe or so it tried to eat that to so you have to decide if you wnat to keep anenemies if you go with the shrimp.
the black is algea or something if the LR is cured just leave it be, it will probably go away in time IMO

YOu also can try Joe's Juice if it is a Manajo or Antasia. I just cleaned my tank of Majano, stuff works quick. There is a few post already about the Juice. I have one in General where there is pics of what majano looks like and there is also one under Product Reviews

man i understand wher eyou come from and i looked for posts before i posted.. then popped into chat and saw peeps in there. but i have had this tank for a year and just now starting the reef thing.. thought i did enough research in it and talked to my LFS, but they gave me bad advice.. REAL BAD. so after wasting $150 there on chemiclas and polyps that have already died i am trying to figure out my next move. and BTW.. $150 to me is a LOT of money.. just ordered my new test kits and will be months before i can afford coral again.. so you can understand my concern for making sure my tank is prestein

I dont mind answering the sam Q over and over, this is how you learn and how i comit it to memory, IMO. *so ask all that you want

i for one dont like to recomend an animal to get rid of anything from aptasia to algae, but pep shrimp have been known to get rid of them, but it is hit and miss with them
yes, joesjuice is great stuff , but there are other ways to get rid of them, in the past i used kalk paste and injected it into the aptasia, worked fine, but not the best for the calcium level, only affected it a bit. you cant use it a lot at once
there are other ways, but joesjuice, IMO, works best

interesting, usually die off is a whiteish color, but i guess it could be die off, when you get the test kits, post the parameters, this will help to solve the problem

i understand your frustration, i have been there, sorta
yes, $150 is a lot of money when you think about where it went
we will get you back on track, and it might be good if you wait a few to start to get some more corals, so we can get your tank back in order, and you can have a happy healthy and thriving tank

the advice was so poor that the lfs could not tell me what hte white deposits on my tank was. Also told me that the alge on glass was good and helps incubate the baby starfish that hitchike on LR.

man O man, the things we learn from the LFS, that part about the algae on the glass incubating the star's, made me laugh, these types of stars are more of a brittle/serpant than anything else, so it would be kinda hard for them to get up the glass to eat the algae

PS, you have a PM
