Default Help me find an exotic fish to add to my tank

I want something super exotic to add to my tank. Would love a ray or shark but have a 34 gallon red sea max (lol) so anyways a tad bit agressive is ok with me. Thinking a species of octopus (i know they are dangerous for my other members) or a sand jelly fish. But what else is there?? Want something really cool and unique.

My tank consists of 2 true perc clowns, 2 bulb anenomes, polyps, a diamond goby, a small tang, and a snowflake morey. And a few kinds of shrimps.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

First let me say DO NOT GET AN OCTOPUS. They should be left in the ocean barring public aquariums. They can be venomous, they are predators, and will often just plain not thrive in captivity. You really should get rid of the eel. Snowflake Morays get too big for a 34 gallon tank, and there is a chance of them eating the other fish and he will definitely chow down on the invertebrates. Also, a 34 is just plain too small for any tang of any size. People often make the mistake of putting small tangs in small tanks, but in reality, no matter the size of the fish, they swim up to 25 miles a day in the wild. For this reason it is not the size of the fish but the species that determines tank size, meaning that tangs should be put in a full sized tank for their species even as juveniles. I do not mean to be unkind, but these two fish really shouldn't be in a tank that size. I don't know of the sand jellyfish in particular, but I do know that most jellyfish do not do well in captivity. This may not apply to the sand jelly, but you should do extensive research before buying.

For your tank, I would look more into exotic coral, as you should probably only have 4-5 fish. Good Luck with the search

Sounds like your near to your bioload limits for a 34, esp with a tang.
The fact that you're even asking this question leads me to believe that you may not be experienced enough to maintain more fish, let alone exotic ones.

I have to agree, we're not trying to judge or criticize but merely saying what out experience has shown to be true. I agree with the above statement about the tang and eel. The minimum tank size fore a tang should be a 75, and then only for some species. Someone here had an octopus in their tank. They regreted it because it ate many inverts and died in a few months. They really don't do well in captivity. Also, they can escape from even the best covered tanks. Anyways, I also agree with the idea of getting an exotic coral instead. There are many really cool ones some acans, blastos are rare and really cool looking.

Yeah isnt exactly what i wanted to hear. Actually suprises my to hear it. I have been talking to my lfs for a while now, and they hooked me up with everything. The tang has yellow eyes and i was told would be fine in my tank for 2 or 3 years, if that. My eel is small and i know it will out grow my tank, but i have seen many of these tanks with WAY more livestock. I dont even get enough protien for my skimmer to work properly.

If you want something exotic and only want to keep one animal in your tank, try a sargassum angler, they don't grow as big as a wartskin or standard angler. Just don't keep anything else with him, unless you want it to become a meal. But since you have all that in your tank as it is, not safe to put him in there.

what type of skimmer do you have, becuase you should have plenty. both tangs and eels put out a huge bioload
also my suggestion if you some how work out your space and bioload issues, is a mantis shrimp. some members have expierence with them, i would talk to them first to see if my suggestion is appropriate. they is alot of misinformation about mantises, btw mantis shrimps are a huge bioload also
