Default Garlic

Some here believe in using garlic to stimulate feeding in fish and improve immune systems.

Some don't.

I have used it since startup and never had a sign of ICK or any other kind of parasite infestation on my fish (with exception of of rare spots now and then which disappear in day or so, usually on my Coral Beauty).

Have seen used various garlic products from just garlic powder to garlic oil.

Both may work well, but am not certain powder actually gets consumed efficiently, and the oil tends to leave a film on water surface.

This is the product I have been using for long time. (one bottle should last years)...I soak food in water with just drop or two, once a week or so. No residue or film left in water.

Kyolic Kyolic, Liquid Aged Garlic Extract

Noticed on sale now at Amazon.

List Price: $24.45
Price: $16.61
You Save: $7.84 (32%)

You may want to give it a try.

Cool, thanks. I bought the last bottle of Kent Garlic Xtreme when it was marked down to 1/2 price at petsmart - b/c they're not going to be carrying it anymore. I agree with Scott on the garlic working. I use it at least 2x a week, and my blue tang is looking great. I put a few drops on the seaweed strips and let it soak in for a minute, then put it on the clip. I'm not going to stop using garlic supplements.

Total ignorance on my part here I'll admit. I've not read or researched the use of garlic with SW or reef aquaria. Maybe I should instead of asking here, but when I see talk of garlic on these forums I ask myself, "If there's no garlic in the ocean, why should there be in my aquarium?"

Could someone bring me onboard?

What's up sparky? Some say it helps with the immune system possibly helping fight off ick or, external parasites and some say that stimulates feeding. That's kinda my view on garlic. Not really sure though. I answered yes to the poll because it's in the food that I feed already. This stuff is killer.Rod's Food - The Complete Reef Food

Garlic in the Marine Aquarium:
How it may work against Marine Ich

Many believe in, many don't.

Guess you have to study up on and make your own decision.

But is added to many supplements and fish foods for a reason.

Does not seem to have any detrimental effects, and may have many positive ones.

Have had good luck running in my tank and will continue to do so...
