Id get a full line of salifert tests kits (alk, cal, mag, no3, po4), and a fluidized bed reactor to run rowaphos. for carbon i just put it in a nylon filter bag and run it passively in my sump. If you wanted to you could run carbon in a separate fluidized bed reactor as well...

salifert test kits are very good, but expensive, about $21 each. If price is not an option, then go with them, if it is, I use API test kits and a salifert Mg, API doesn't make a Mg test kit that i know of.
what about your lighting? are you planning a FOWLR or a reef?

running a system with external pumps is a plus, you have the bare bone minimum to start a tank. do you have a pH monitor? i use seachem gel instead of rowaphos in this Aquarium Algae & Phosphate Control: PhosBan Reactor 150 and Parts from Two Little Fishies

for a reef there here some needed items: Ca reactor & kallwasser ( good combo ), lighting system, par meter ( very helpful ), refugium, chiller, the main test kits ( Ca, dKH, Mg ) other test kits ( PO4, NO3, O2 ), having an extra pump with extra bulbs on the shelf is a life saver.

Sounds like you have a good start........

....ooooooo a controller. I want one of those. God my wife is seriously going to kill me one of these days. If you hear of a dude in the Pacific NW that ended up with his head in the fish tank......it is probably me.
