First link definitely shows a bleached out goniopora coral (first picture). I would return it to the store if you can.

Definately a fromia star.. Only thing about them is no one actually knows what they eat.. They are beautiful though and as stated are reef safe....

Firstly welcome to the 3reef,
I definatly agree here,
it is a very hard coral to care for, even thou it will appear to do well they are well known to have a tank life from 6-9mth after which they start a steep turn for the worse.
Beautiful specimine but one I wont keep again!!

Closed, when the lights just turn on.... and by the way, I had to move the red candy cane trumpets, because the goniopora was attacking it, causing tissue to die.



All opened up.



I never really saw it eat, but I'm 100% sure that the ones that survive in the ocean don't have divers target feeding every polyp with a turkey baster to keep them alive. I shut off the skimmer, put in the food and let it blow all around the tank, and maybe it eats.
