Default A devastating super typhoon

well, this just happened this weekend.

A super typhoon passed through my country. We have been blessed for the typhoon weakened when it reached the Sierra Madres - Cordilleras mountain range from a 240+lph winds to a 150 kph and even weaker as it left for the South China seas.

Power was out for 18+ hours. Now this is where we all should be ready. Batteries, air pumps, oxygen stones, etc. should always be in stock (my batteries were weak, my battery air pump was malfunctioning and I did not have any oxygen stones).

While my corals were lucky enough and so were my eels, a clown fish and a chromis, the rest died (my signature shows the dead animals). The carpet anemone also survived.

Being ready pays. Lesson learned.

Incidentally my losses were small. Many lost their lives and property (death toll range in thousands). Seen from the damage, mine is insignificant. Still it sadden me so much. And seeing others suffer worsened it.

_________

I retired the reef for now. Maybe a nano or a softies tank in the future when I have both time and money. 60 gallon FOWLR in the meantime. My echidna nebulosa are still going strong!

Oh my goodness reiple! * I am so sorry to hear about that terrible typhoon and all of the destruction it caused. I'm so glad that you and your family are o.k.!
I'm so sorry also for the loss of your fish. Those were beautiful fish too.

The lesson you learned is a good lesson for all of us. I don't have any of those supplies on hand. I would like to have a generator to crank up if needed. I will need to be making an order so that I can be sure I am prepared.

Thanks for sharing with us.

Cindy

I know what it is like to go through some storms, we went thru 3 mild hurricanes ( that's what we call them ) and I was upset at losing my power for a couple of days and some other inconveniences but compared to others who lost heir life or home, we made it through with our health and our jobs intact. So, count your blessings and I am glad to hear you are OK.

Thank you everyone. May God bless you all!

As for reefing, well we all should be prepared for Murphy's Law. My fault my misfortune I guess!

Thanks for the reminder on battery operated air pumps. I am glad you are ok and it wasn't a total loss.
