Default Crushed Coral

Hey Everyone. I Know Crushed Coral Is No More A Favoured Substrate. Unfortunatly This Is What I Have And Now I Have Livestock So I Won't Be Replacing It With Sand. Can Anyone Advise Me On The Best Way To Maintain It...keep It From Causing Any Problems. How Come No One Uses This Any More? I Have A Very Small Bed Of It, Maybe 2inches, Just Enough To See It.

CC traps a lot of detritus. If that detritus is allowed to rot, then you get algae and Nitrate problems.

However, gravel can be used provided you siphon it out when you do water changes.

See this vacuum. Fish.com

Why not replace a little at a time with LS? Wouldn't cost much doing small amounts, would look better and be healthier in the long run.
