Matt that is overkill. Who really gets that into their fish tank that they need to control it from a computer. I can see if you are at the zoo and have a 50000 gallon reef and are controlling hundred horsepower electric pumps and reactord made from 55 gallon drums. Then you might need this setup but I think that would take out the fun (work) out of the hobby.

Cool tweekey geekey stuff. I bet the guys that think these things up are spun to the gills on meth.

Whatever it's cool!
Probably for people with more money, than time though.

Wish they had a video of the surges... that's the stuff I like.

Uh, no, Dave never used Meth before.

Your looking at a proto type right there. There's plenty of automation devices for aquaria that utilize computers, like the OCtopus This one can be programmed for specific lighting schemes, surges, etc. Insane unit, extremelly costly. Not for hobbyists, but for people with big $$$. I would love one, it wouldn't take any fun away from my hobby, only add. Being able to program all aspects of my aquarium is a dream, computers enable that dream.

Being the only person on this planet who can't program, operate and repair COSA's, besides the inventor, I can say they are simply amazing.

The COSA installed at Seascape Resort in Aptos is the mother ship. 680g three sided display, with a 240g surge/refugium that is divied in half for 2x 120g surges that can be sent thru 15 different 1 way and 3 way automated ball valves. If any thing goes wrong, it can page and email the service rep (used to be me).

Come down to SC sometime Matt, I'll get Dave to meet us at Seascape to show you the beast.

The demand wasn't/isn't so high for 1/4 million dollar systems, he now is a high end loan officer He did make hours of video for a "soothing" video for elderly people. I'll try to aquire some, if he didn't sell them all.

Thats one has 120 gallon surges, like 120 gallons of water surging thru like 4 pipes in 15 seconds. Is this what it is? That sounds cool.

Why does Arnold need a Hummer? Why does Richard Branson do anything? Those who can, can, the rest of us just drool I guess Cool set-ups, but my tanks blow them away with actual life. I would have approached them differently, but I wasn't in controll.

The amount and velocity can be controlled using both the 1 way and 3 way actuated ball valves. It can dump in about 2 minutes flat thru 2x 2" ports, IIRC.
