chiller review

my friend is looking at this chiller on e-bay-anyone know anything about these
1/3 HP Via Aqua Aquarium Chiller / Water Cooler NEW! - eBay (item 230338571050 end time May-01-09 07:28:33 PDT)

 

You could probably get a 1/4 HP JBJ chiller that is just as efficient for around the same price as that 1/3 HP chiller. Either way, that chiller will do the job it's intended for.

 

Its worth spending an extra $100 to get a brand name chiller. It will pay off in the long run.

 

I am worried about the quality and the "Rotary Compressor" they are advertising. This chiller is less than half the price of my jbj 1/3. I looked at this one too a while back and the price scared me. Anyone actually use this chiller?

 

They are loud, they are inefficient compared to JBJ's and that's why you can use lower rated JBJ's and get the same results, they will heat up your living room so you will have to turn your AC down to be comfortable. They will however, chill your tank.

There's an old adage.....you get what you paid for.
