| Can sombody ID This Thing? Can Anybody tell me what this is? I know it isn't the best picture. It is black it has 2 feelers on it's head with a white dot in the center, It crawls very slowly on my rock and it leaves a blackish gray raised material on the rock as it moves! What is this thing???

| Re: Can sombody ID This Thing? Looking at the link that Matt sent to me all the picks of Chiton don't have feelers on there head. This thing has 2 distinct feelers that you can see moving around and from what I can see of the body it looks kind of soft and worm like not hard like the Chiton. |

| Re: Can sombody ID This Thing? Is there any way you can put a glove on and pull it off your rock. Put it in a clear container and take another picture, but close up? I'm thinking nudibranch, but it is hard to say at such a distance. Also, is the trail being left behind, slimey, or is it egg like, or waste like? Just trying to narrow the choices down.

| Re: Can sombody ID This Thing? I was able to see this a little better on this picture but it is still hard to say. Here's what we up against if it is a nudibranch http://www.seaslugforum.net/species.htm and these are only a few of the species. It can be quite difficult to find the correct family, subfamily, etc. much less the individual species without a closeup picture. |
