every time i test my calcium its always around 480.
never have to add anything . is 480 OK??

Yes, 480 is ok. I believe most some people try to keep it between 400 and 450. I think too much calcium causes the corals to grow too fast which will cause some problems.
What type of tank set up do you have? What kind of corals?

Be careful that your calcium level doesn't go over 500, it could cause your alkalinity to drop.

did you ever test your water by itself sometimes water can contain calcium the place where i used to get water had a natural calcium in it and i never really had to add to it, but with the water i use now i have to add with every water change also some sea salts have calcium in it. test your water plain, and after you add your salt to see what it checks out at

You hit it on the head!! I just checked my calcium, gh and kh. My calcium was at 500+ and my kh was at 70 and gh was between 300 and 400.
