Default Bulkhead installation for internal overflow

All,

My question is regarding the installation of my bulkheads inside my overflow (see my previous 90L thread for pictures).

Would it be necessary or not to put a silicone bead between the sealing gasket and the glass to ensure no water seeps? I do not think it would be needed, but I have heard otherwise.

The gaskets do have 3 "ribs" raised 1mm or less from the rest of the surface....these will be in contact with the glass under compression.......

If anyone can provide their opinion I would appreciate it.

No need for silicone. Just hand tighten the nut on the bulkhead then use a wrench and give it about 1/2 to a full turn.

You will be fine. The silicone will make the surface of the glass slick and when you tighten the nut down, there is a good possibility that the gasket will move around and not make a good seal.

I'll confirm with Mac. I used NO silicon hand tightened my nut, (with rubber gasket inside??) and snugged it up a little bit with a wrench. Never had a drip out of it!!!
