Bad Idea?

when using Ro/DI or just DI filters is it ok to put the water into the tannk after mixing salt and it clears? should you wait some time?

Read the isturuction on the bag or the bucket whichever you have, it will usually tell you to airate the water for 6-8 hours before puting it in.

It's good to wait a while. But if you mix it well you can get away with it.

If you want to be really good, throw an air-stone in the container of water and let it mix and airate over night.

Oh and you can put a heater in it to match the temp.

We used to do the above two steps when I worked at the LFS.

The less shock the better when adding water.

I keep a tub of fresh ro water fro top off and another tub of ro/salt mixed to the sg of 1.023 and use power heads to keep the water moving. I find it's easier this way in case of me being busy and not having time to mix up what I need.

I have also seen the ph drop if the ro isn't buffed up before adding it to the tank, but I don't do that and have not had a problem with my tank. So check your tank after any large top offs.
