Default another nemo topic (ill take opinions on this one)

with the movie coming out there has been this huge rush to the pet stores to buy saltwater fish. does anyone have this going on where they are at? its gotten to the point there has been segments on the local news of them trying to make people realize what they would need to start with, and how much the hobby cost. also how much more difficult it is then fresh water. i have seen 3 differnt news stories on this. people are like i gotta have that little orange and white fish because its in the movie can you believe that.

its the same craze that happened with 101 dalmations everybody had to have a dalmation puppy. but over half of them ended up in shelters after a couple of months.

Ugh. That's kinda scary. [smiley=worried2.gif]

Hopefully, some people will step up and educate them before the impulse buys.

It is like when the FAST AND THE FURIOUS movie came out. street raceing deaths doubled around were I live and has never died down.
I can't blame the car dealers or the LFS. Everyone wants to make more money. But the parents of these kids who need the fastest car or the 5G SW Nemo tank need to show some restraint. I didn't get everything I wanted as a kid and I turned out only a little wacked.
Thats my 2 cents

I've also heard of kids, waiting until there parents have tormented over this 5G SW tank only to flush the Clown down the toilet.

I guess thats how Nemo was freed in the movie.(Sorry I hope I didn't ruin the ending for anyone)

dont get me wrong i want to see the movie and it looks kinda cool where pixar puts out some good movies. but its like a lot of people (adults) dont seem to use there head or common sense on things.

one segment that was on they told people about the cost of sw compared to fw fish. the min size for beginning tank is 45-55 gall, salinity, ph, and alkalinity issues and dont expect to spend less than 500 dollars for a beginning tank. and a few other things i was surprised they went into so much detail.

That's great they are trying to educate the masses. I wish more media was taking that approch to the Nemo Craze.

And yes I would like to see the movie too. My nephew is coming next week so I'm going to take him while his mom and Dad do some shopping

My daughter came home and promptly named my serpant starfish "Peaches". I had always thought it was a he. Guess that shows how much I know.
