I am just amazed by that tank. It seems like he would have had to go scuba diving just to set it up. How else would you set up all of the corals. I can't see really how deep it is but it looks to be around 6 feet. just amazing

After looking at this tank and seeing the number of fish it in I was wondering something. I know there is a standard when it comes to how many fish you can have is a certain size tank. More persisely a certain amount of water. Having a sump allows more water which makes it safer for more fish in a display tank. You can see that In this tank there are a lot of fish but he also has a ton of water ciculating through this thing. And considering he set it up 9-10 years ago from what I can gather on here it seems like it is working amazinly well. My question is: Is there a standard when it comes to how many fish you can have in a certain size display tank. Lets say you got all the water you need and it is as clean as you can make it. does anyone know or is it just one of those things that too many fish create to much cluster and not enough living room ( all dependant on fish I would guess). Anyways thoughts?

It all depends on the fish you wanna stock your tank with. Some are schooling fish and prefer to be in schools, some dont venture far from where they make their home, some like to swim in open water a lot like tangs. If you want more then one tang, you need a lot of room so they will have enough space for all to swim and enough live rock for them to graze on so there isnt a lot of aggression over grazing grounds.

Different fish need different things. Thats why you research what you would like to put in there before you buy it, and before you make the actual purchase, research some more. A lot of newbs dont research what they buy, Just because you read it at one place, doesnt mean its the only way, get multiple sources and make sure they are not quoting the same person. Find somebody who is doing something similar to what you wanna do, and ask them questions and the ask them some more. Most people in this like to brag, so they'll answer your questions, lol.
