When i have my water change water ready and i need to aerate it does it matter what size pump & airstone i use???

No sir just so its moving air bubbles through the water column in fact a air diffuser is not really needed either, But will just be more efficient

what do other peple use and what methods to aerate your water for water changes?

It's not a bad idea for pH.
A small one would work fine.

But I did a similar thing with just an old powerhead that pointed up at an angle to agitate the surface. I used a heater too.

So Get like a 5 gallon container of water add a heater to get temp up + airstone to aerate water then after what 12 hours add to tank?

Plain old whisper airpump with airstone weighted down with rock to get it to bottom of rubbermaid.

Helps mixing salt in also.

I just add reef cystals and try to get the temp close by put the 5 gal container in the bath with hot water. mix the water and add. No heater no powerhead no airstone no problems.

Just a 5 gallon bucket with a small powerhead to mix the salt and water. If your tank environment is what it should be, any water added to the system will become oxygenated soon enough. In fact, with proper "water chaos" like a good protein skimmer and maybe some cascading out of the tank into the sump; there's probably no need to be concerned with oxygenating newly mixed saltwater before addition to the tank.

Hmmm I'm confused some of you say airstone, some powerhead, some not at all, will go with the majority...
