Advice please

I am debating whether or not to setup a small tank for propogating some corals. It is only a 10 gallon and I have a spare internal filter and heater to go in it.

First question, I assume I would not need a skimmer if all that is in the tank are some mushrooms and maybe some zoos?

Second question is a matter of lighting, the tank due to its size does not and will not hold any marine tubes, e.g. t5. Is there an alternative such as using a lamp of some description that isn't too expensive?

Lastly, any other pointers or maybe something I have not thought of would be great.

In my opinon, ten gallons is a littel small to propagate corals. Not that you couldnt, just that you will be limited in what you can have in there. Theres alot of warfare from propagated corals and a skimmer would be a must. As for lighting, you may want to try aquatraders.com for cheap lighting. Other than that try reefcentral on the used equipment forum

Thanks for your input, I will have to think whether or not to proceed especially as I would need to fork out for a skimmer.

With any coral, whether stonies or softies, you need a skimmer. Mushrooms probably live in cleaner areas than xenia colonies.
