Default Something a little more concerning then a goliath tigerfish!!!

Most north american waters have these fish in them. You can even buy them as babies for freshwater aquariums!

Alligator gar Atractosteus spatula (10 feet)

They had those on an episode of "Monster Quest" a few weeks ago on the discovery channel.
I'd rather take my chances swimming with a 5-ft barracuda.

Ok. We have these guys, tigerfish and recently I saw something about Bull Sharks going all the way up the Mississippi and other freshwater areas. I think we have to rethink the whole 'freshwater is safe for swimming' thing.

I hate gar. We had them in east Texas- one of my cuzzins almost lost a toe on a fishing trip when we ran into a small one during a swim. If we hooked one we'd usually whack it with a piece of steel pipe we kept on the boat.
