i was wondering, i am looking for some schooling fish (is it really what it called?) thinking about chrmois and some anthias, what else should i get?

green chromis is a good choice, of cours "other" damsels will school togehter but i dont suggest it.
There mean and nasty in a group aside from the greens.

How big is your tank? Bangaii Cardinals are also schooling fish. I'm not sure about the other cardinals though like the Pajama.

I saw a tank with about 15 blue damsels with the yellow tail the other day they where really neat to watch made me change my mind a little about damsels.

"schooling" is a very strong instinct in most fish. You will find that wide variety's will "school" together...

Coral catfish will school tightly. They get big though and have a sting to them. My green chromis's schooled for the first couple pf weeks and have pretty much stopped. I think that it's something they do in nature for protection from predators. Take the predators away and no need to school.IMO. Also not saying that fish won't school mine have just stopped.

Damsels are cool/lovely fish...don't overlook. But best to add later in tank life then at getgo as they quickly become very territorial...

Lots of different kinds to choose from...and if added together, you can usually safely add different type..

My experience anyway...others here have had different experiences.

In a 55 gal you would have to go with chromis over the anthias. Damsels are a cool fish. I have a three stripe who is slightly terr to new additions but only till tell warm up to each other, my gf favorite fish. Had him a while made it through a BAD case of ich, I mean bad. Hardy and pretty.

Chromis should be kept in schools of 6 or more. Any less and you will not have enough fish to balance out the aggressive nature of this fish and the most dominant chromis will eventually kill off all of the competition.
