| opinions on best tank? as some of you may know, my tank crashed because of financial struggles...but that's all behind me and i'm going to rebuild! i just don't know if i want to keep the same tank, or go ahead and change it, so here are my options..
55 gallon, standard (what i have now, sitting outside because i haven't cleaned it and brought it back inside yet)
75 gallon
54 or 92 corner aquarium
red sea max
80 gallon Euro Prestige corner-flo super system (found in the drs foster & smith catalog)
90 gallon standard prestige corner-flo super system (also found in the catalog)
if i get a new aquarium, it will definately be pre-drilled, reef ready, whatever you want to call it... i'm concerned about getting a bigger tank, because i'm limited on space, but a 75 will only take up 5 more inches than my 55.... Also, if i keep my 55, most likely it will stay FOWLR until i move out... and when i find my own place, i will want to upgrade to a bigger tank anyway, so i can have a reef...
i like the corner aquariums, because it seems like they would give the most options for aquascaping (just pile the rock up in the corner, and maybe on the sides, so i'd have a nice big open area of sand)
so what do you guys think i should do? |

| Go with the 90 gal and custom build your stand so that you can use your 55 as a sump/ frag tank. This will give you an increased water volume and now a bit easier to maintain. Just a thought. But Reef Ready is the only way to go! _________ 120 RR AGA, 2000gph, 840watts lighting, Aqua C- 150 (w/ mag12), DIY Kalk Reactor, 7 years reef keeping |

| i reelly like those corner tanks.the only reason i did'nt get a corner or breeder tank was cause its harder to find lights that fit over them.if you choose a 4 foot long tank, the equipment choices are endless, and cheaper |

| well, google sent me to another forum... someone on said forum posted a pic that shows the difference... NICE difference... alas, i don't see much use in spending the extra money... even though i could be "the first on the block"... but then again, i'm already the first on the block to have a saltwater aquarium... i only know of 3 people that have saltwater aquariums in my town, one is a friend from high school (he used to have a 29 gallon housing only a clownfish and host anemone), and the husband of a girl i used to work with (he had a 75 gallon reef).. oh, one other couple that bought a foxface from the LFS that i frequently visit... i know there's a bunch out there, otherwise we wouldn't have 2 stores that sell saltwater fish! i don't think a store would carry something that only 4 people in the city would buy... unless it was special order...
i guess if i had my own business, or if reefing was a major hobby around here, then i would go for it just so i could have "the best of the best"... but, since its just gonna be in my home, and the only people that will see it are family and friends, there's just no need for it... my personal opinion
oh, ziggy, about lighting for a corner aquarium, the only solution i could think of is hang a MH penant over the aquarium and take off the top... OR, if PFO would build a LED canopy specifically for corner aquariums, that would be nice, but VERY expensive |
