| My first salt This is my first saltwater tank, right now i just have the equipment i am currently building the refugium my equipmnet is a millenium 3000 hang on filter a prizm hang on protein skimmer and 2 7.5 powerheads i will be posting pics of it soon if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated |

| I third that...used to have a prizm and found it really didnt do much apart from make alot of noise. Replaced mine with a Coralife and it works a treat.
Good luck with your new tank....hope you have deep pockets!

| Definitely dump that Prizm. If you want a HOB skimmer look at the AquaC Remora or the Bak Bak 2. Can't say much about the powerheads since I don't know what size tank you have.

| Thanks for all the support i forgot to mention i have a 660 ice ballast (vhos), it is a 55 gallon tank and i am planning on doing a reef |

| Definitely YES!!!!!! The sump doesn't do much for mechanical filtration other than add water volumne and surface area and a place to store equipment!
But, you should invest in a good skimmer and don't even think about skipping out on the skimmer or you will be asking for problems down the road as for your water parameters IMO! |
