Default Fish tank stand question
I had a custom built stand made for my 90 gallon i will be setting up (have posted a few pix recently). The stand is very level all the way around, there are 1 or 2 places where the tank has a small gap (could fit maybe 8 or 9 sheets of paper) inbetween the tank and the stand. Is this gonna be a problem? Will it settle in after the tanks filled or is there something i need to do to fix it? Ive read of putting a thin sheet of styrofoam inbetween stand and the tank no matter what as a precaution to releave any minute irregularities in the wood. Thanks in advance

Styrofoam isn't a bad Idea IMO, but I have recently seen tank allot of commercially available tank stands that support the tank only in the corners so I don't really think it will be an issue.

My self I like a stand with a full plywood top that supports the tank for the full length.

I called all glass and they said as long as the four corners were supported also. The stand is as square as i think u can get it. I just noticed light and a small gap on the front right side corner, u could maybe squeeze 8 or sheets of paper in there. So im talking maybe the thickness of some bedsheets. Its prolly not a big deal cause im sure the stand is gonna conform to a degree once the water is added but wanted to ask just to be sure. I dont want 90 gallons of water filling up the house.

No. All tanks/stands (in my experience, anyways) have that. You will be fine.

Hi Luvreef,

AGA tanks have the trim on the bottom to help disperse the pressure. They can be supported just on the trim with no problem. With what you've said, as long as the area is not too large, I do not think it would be a problem. If you are paranoid, some styro or insulating foam wont hurt.

For tanks that do not have the trim around the base, it's best to use foam underneath to compensate.
