| Equipment I saw a post on craigslist for a CPR skimmer (no mention of which one) and a fluval 304 filter. The question is whether to buy either. They are $45 each.
I have never had a canister before but my end goal is to have a 45 gallon tank with a 20 gallon refugium. Will there be any need for a canister to do
mechanical filtration if I have LR for biological, the skimmer removing DOC's and the refugium/sump doing it's thing (i'll learn what it does before I set it up)
Right now I have the 20 gallon operating as its own tank and a 45 gallon waiting for parts to make it legit. The only question is is the deal good enough to buy and hold? I know you'll want to know about what kind of CPR but I haven't heard back yet. I'll post when I find out.

| No on the canister because they are a pain to keep clean. As for the skimmer...I have never used on of those but skimmers and lighting is one place you should not skimp on cash. Buy the best you can so you don't have to upgrade later on and it does a good job. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I am convinced on the canister that it is more trouble than it is worth.
Is everyone in agreement that the CPR is not any good? I had heard good things about it. It is only so cheap because it is used. I'll get a full working demo before purchase.
My fate is in your hands. |

| Never said it was bad. I have never used one so I can't give you any advice. A skimmer is not something your should count pennies on.
Just my $.02 |
