| Brimming with excitment! New tank! OK so long story short I was rear-ended at 30mph a little over a week ago (over a curb, pummeled a street sign, through a fence and onto some lady's lawn - I'm ok though!!). Most of the damage is to the body and the insurance company cut me a decent check but I'm not getting any of it fixed. It's all cosmetic and I don't care. So naturally what do you think this reefer did? Why, began tank shopping, of course!
I found a 125gal (my dream size, always has been, always will be) with a stand for $300! I'm gonna get some lights, setup an overflow, and toss about 55lbs of LR in there, some sand, and plug'er in! I'm only doing 55lbs because the rest of the rock will come from my 72 that I already have setup.
My gut instinct and experience tell me that the following idea will work:
Cycle the tank with the 55lbs of LR for 6-8 weeks with a minimal photo period then move everything over. Since the LR in my 72 is so old (6 years) there should be no need other than to cycle the new rock, right? The rock in the 72 is already handling all the bio-load that would be in the 125.
Like I said I don't see why not, but maybe I'm missing something? _________ 125 Gal Reef. | well depending on the LR you aquire will determine the amount of cycling time .
If you have a bit of paitence , you might keep a sharp eye out on already curred, or even some real nice purpled up LR that some one's doing a tare down.
( It's summer time and It always seems that more people end up taring down their tank's ). _________ Wildreefs 220 Tank Journal |
