Default Battery Backup System

I found this link in another forum and this system looks awesome. Pretty reasonable price too. Take a gander!

Spend your money on a generator. Runs as long as you can supply it gasoline. I lasted 7 days without power with no problem with one.

I agree with getting a generator. The battery backup is good if youre not home and the power goes out, but then again the time it will stay running is limited.

I use the APC UPS 650. It will run my sump pump and heater for 55 mins. I also have a backup gas generator if necessary but we've never had a power out for longer than 20 mins. It cost $100.

20 mins only . Last year in South Florida we had a power outage which lasted a whole week!

yea, i think we in florida are looking a for a long term power solution; after a hurricane you're LUCKY to get power back in a week, and I know of many a reef tank that was completely destroyed because of it. If those battery things can't even last a day, a generator is a much more worthwhile investment (for those of us with power outages due to severe storms anyway). Better to be SURE your backup will last as long as you need it. Your are afterall, insuring a LARGE investment (both mentally and monetarily).
