20g flow

My hubby has started a 20g SW. Right now until we get a skimmer we are running a filter with the carbon sponge sheets. We also have 20lbs Lr and a mj1200. Can anyone tell me for this size of tank how much flow is good and any other advice for small tanks?

You should strive for a minimum flow rate of 10 times the tank volume per hour. So you would want to have at least a 200 gallon per hour turnover in a 20 gallon tank. This is a combination of the total flow rate of all filters and power-heads. Hope that helps John
