Ease Of Care 1=very hard 10=very easy----------8
Diet: Mostly Vegetable Matter, Will take all types of food including flakes, brine shrimp, etc, not picky at all
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Personal Observations: These tangs are very active to the point of being almost hyper active, they need a decent sized tank of at least 75 gallons.
They are for the most part very peaceful. They are in the same family as the chevron and yellow eye tangs which are bristle tooth tangs. the mouth of these tangs are specially suited for scraping algae from rocks and just about any place that algae my be(you can run algae, but you can't hide)
The price of these tangs has come down quite a bit as they have been available more now than they used to be, maybe gresham can chime in as to why that is so.
the common names of the tomini tangs is obvious. the orange can vary from tang to tang, some have more than others. but the reason we southerners call them orange finned tangs is because we can't pronounce tomini.
This is a great choice for a tang for a reef, it is quite beautiful and will perform a task of eating algae, even some hair algaes.!
