Yup! I meant starve the remaining ich parasites in the tank. Keep it fishless no less than 6 weeks. this is the same period you rehab the fishes in the QT. For the corals, well keep feeding them!
After QT no additional animals which are not quaratined including corals and LR.

I retired the reef for now. Maybe a nano or a softies tank in the future when I have both time and money. 60 gallon FOWLR in the meantime. My echidna nebulosa are still going strong! | |

Unfortunately the best way to rid of ich and avoid it's infestation is still a QT tank.

Something fishy, I noticed spots a few weeks ago maybe 4 now. Tonight coming in from work I really don't see anything maybe one or two tiny spots but that is it. I am gradually lowering the salinity in my tank until I can get it moved. I probably won't go very low because of the corals maybe to 1.020.
If I took a pic you wouldn't be able to see anything . It just isn't obvious enough. From the original pic I did get more spots and there was one spot towards the tail that was big enough that you felt like you would like to pick it off if you could. It was either that are a little piece of frozen squid I had fed, but it was there for 4-5 days.
I think the change in water conditions once I get it moved will make the biggest difference.
saltyfish, thanks for the pics. I couldn't tell for sure are yours covered in spots or just a few. I noticed it more so on the tail.

If you are treating the fish for ich with hyposalinity then the correct salinity (not SG) is 16ppt or less. I prefer 14ppt. If the salinity is not low enought the treatment will not work. You need an accurate refractometer or a lab grade LARGE glass hydrometer that is calibrated for reef type temps to measure the salinity. Plastic swing arm type hydrometers are NOT accurate enough. Measure the salinity and not the specific gravity. BTW, the specific gravity will be about 1.009 during treatment depending on the water temperature. Check the salinity and the pH daily during treatment. Do not use hypo with inverts or live rock. I hope you have a cycled quarantine tank.
