Hi All, this is my first thread here on 3reef.

I recently bought a used GEO 612 ca reactor and was wondering what media I should use in it?

I hear many use the ARM coarse, (not xtra course) in their GEO reactors, but some apparently use the finer ARM or schuran type media.

What would be better to use?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Tom, Caribsea has a chart as to what reactor does best with what media, swing by the shop and I can show you....

Otherwise someone here will most likely know, I am a 2 part guy....

I use the fine in the reactor and then I have course to put in a second chamber I have on the reactor.

Joe, I will swing by and check the chart out.

So that means you carry carib sea right?

Otty, if you have 2 chambers, you probably have a different brand than GEO. Apparently there are different ways to make Ca reactors, some flow up, some flow down, and depending on which kind, certain media work better.

I have a KNOP C calcium reactor that I added a PM second chamber to so I could get use out of the low pH off effluent before it enters the sump again.

Joe, I found the chart that carib sea has online. Unfortunately they do not have GEO as one of their reactors on the list.

Why I dunno, because GEO are one of the most popular reactors.

It appears that many GEO reactor owners use the coarse ARM.

Usually if it a high flow reactor, use cource, slow flow, fine. And ARM is one of the best media that can be used.
