| i switched over to seachem gel, got tired of loosing the small granuals of rowaphos, and their like cement after awhile. seachem gel is the best of both worlds, charcoal and a media that takes out silica and phos. its tumbling in a reactor and has seperated itself with the the charcoal on top. read the specs on this stuff, i wont go back to rowaphos.
the refugium however is here to stay, will never get rid of that

| how often should a product like PhosBan be changed? I'm not seeing any algae anymore(not nearly like what I had) but I'm wondering if this running all the time is what's causing my zoa's to close up and get the gray film? _________ Got Questions? Need Answers? R.I.P. Big Blue 12/02-10/22//07

| I asked a similar question in December and knew the answer before I even asked it, as I was hoping there was a general rule of thumb I could follow.....But there wasn't You have to test the Phosphate level of the water going in and the Phosphate level of the water coming out of the Reactor or place where the phosban is located to accurately tell if it is still removing Phosphates.

| Indeed it is but I was always told to look for a color change. I never did though and just replaced it when I thought it was time |
