Default TDS Meter is Whacked?

So I just went and bought a new TDS meter today tested my RO/DI and to my surprise came in around 157. Tested my tap water, came in at 56-60. What is going on? I was expecting maybe 20 -30 from the ro. But why is the tap registering lower than the ro water. I just recently purchased the unit 3 months ago but haven't used no more than 200 gals of pure water. I have the ocean wave 75/gpd

ok tds will always read high in the first gal or so of water produced by your ro filter mine dose this consistantly also did you give the tds time to temp adjust to the water in both tap and ro this can produce skewed results

i usually just hold it in the water for about 5 seconds. My tap and my ro should be the same right? Being that I'm checking at the same time. And unit is not new also brought it in feb never flushed it gues thats why I had the high reading at first. Then when I flushed it went completely to 0.

no tap should be high and ro under ten unless you have the di filter then it should be 0

I personaly use a shot glass for my tds testing let it run for about 20 min then fill the shot glass after a good scrubbing and turn the tds meter on and let it sit till the numbers quit changing
