not shure about how to tell it is going bad as I dont have di

but many people I know have di on their ro system and change it when they start showing 1 or 2 tds coming from it

ok here is what flusing is without a kit per the directions that come with the water filter you switch the two output lines one is your filtered water probly blue the other will be waste water one also has what is called a resistor in it to make only a certain amount of water pass through this is the piece you are moving and bypassing with the kit

the kit basicly puts a bypass valve in around this resister you have to remove the resistor and place it at the back of the t in the kit and just hook everything else up all water produced through this is waste
