| Settlement in the sump..vacuum? Wondering if anyone sucks the settlement out of their sump or if i should. It looks like a brown powdery sand...like a dust. Also if anyone sucks it out how do they do it? I would siphon but the sump is under the display so i dont have gravity to my advantage. |

| I would not let it build up too much. At least it will cause debris clouds in tank when it gets disturbed...and being decaying matter, probably has a very adverse affect on water params if allowed to build up.
I used to clean sump bottom out and both overflows (which also collect lots of gunk) with a small shopvac...just rigged piece of large siphon hose on end of vacuum tube using duct tape...and it sucked up all with no problem.
Problem went away once I started using filter socks on both returns...besides providing sparkling clear water...no more stuff buildup in sump... _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)
