In this case, and am certain not "natural," I use a different approach then Tangster and Amcarrig...
First I don't want that stuff building up in sump or circulating in tank.
I need to keep my water in tank crystal clear because I need maximize light efficiency (I don't have much to spare). So I have filter socks on both returns to sump to filter all that "dust"/"excess food" out.
But of course then I must target feed existing corals daily because there is very little food for them in water column except what they catch on own during fish feeding times...
Is a bit more of a pain in the ass...feeding corals, cleaning filter socks, etc...but my water clarity is sparkling...
But Roger has a good point...that stuff could be great food source....
What am thinking of trying is to dry out clogged filter socks and sift out accumulated gunk...then will add to my coral feeding mixture....
