Default RODI Trouble

I recently got my typhoon 5 stage from airwaterice.com and hooked it up. I checked the output at the membrane and there was water. The problem is that water is not coming out the output that goes to the di resin and then to the reservoir. The only water that comes out of the membrane housing is the waste water.

they appear to have a pretty good troubleshooting guide but does not describe your problem Troubleshooting guide

Has the unit been producing water for you at all?

I would double check your installation.

Hello IBMGEEK,

On the drain line, there's a flow restrictor with a black valve on it. Do you have that valve opened? If so, close it. That's a fast flush valve and it would cause all of the water to run to the drain. It will not impede waste water flow if you close it. It's designed so that if it's open, it flushes; if not, it runs normally.

If it's still not working properly, email don@airwaterice.com. He will help you.

Thanks for replying everyone. H20 guru, at first i had the black valve on the drain line opened but then realized it was a fast flush valve so i closed it. How long should i have to wait to see results. Not even a drop of water comes out the pure side.

I have had the unit running since 4:30 pm today and still not a drop of pure water. The unit is still producing waste water and i do have the fast flush valve closed. Any suggestions? Could it be pressure problems?

Ok. The unit will produce waste water. All RO's produce waste water. Do you know what the water pressure of your house is? How cold is the water right now going into the unit? Pressure and temperature will affect a RO's performance.

For instance: 30 psi is the minimum operating pressure and water at 40 degrees F will cut the RO's GPD rating in half.

Default Phone call time

It is much simpler for us if you email me directly . I do not always get notice of messages .
I sent you an email asking for your phone number so we can talk . It has to be somthing very simple or goofy .

IMO, with the filter from Air Water Ice, along with the drain valve there is a another invavle on my 5 stage, this is for waste and cleaning. If I open my valve, all I get is waste wash. Close this and you get the output water with some waste too. I also had to lightly tap the auto shut-off valve to remove the air, they suggest to wait a few days...after doing these things mine has worked great since...hope this helps.
