Default RO/DI System Plumbing

Well I am putting away the money slowly for a RO/DI system. Not sure yet which unit I will buy but have seen alot of good reveiws here.

My question is how to plmub it in. All the water in my house runs thru a water softner. I talked with a plumber friend and he says to plumb it in after the softner as the softner will help with the removal of some impurities. Does anyone have experience with it plumbed after the water softner. He also says my filters will last much longer this way. My concern is what effect the soft water will have.

Thoughts/comments/experiences are greatly appreciated.

Rick
